Lauren Barretto, LMFT
About Me
My name is Lauren Barretto (she/her) and as a clinician, I believe in pressing pause when life sweeps us up in a whirlwind of chaos. In these moments, it is easy to believe we’re alone and vulnerable in our depression, anxiety, and pain. I believe that seeking mental health care is an act of love and therefore, I strive to create safe spaces for people to be holistically seen, heard, and supported in order to enhance this strength.
My approach with clients is collaborative, trauma-informed, multiculturally-humble, and strengths-based. I utilize evidence-based practices and in addition to traditional talk-therapy, I strive to find creative ways in order to meet clients where they are in their journey through art, writing, music, and play. Healing isn’t linear and I am dedicated to supporting clients in increasing their self-understanding, compassion, and efficacy, along with developing interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance skills to better navigate their struggles and achieve their therapeutic goals. I work to destigmatize mental health care experiences and I celebrate each individual’s unique experiences, strengths, and identity.
I have experience supporting clients experiencing deep anxiety, depression, and trauma in individual, family-systems, and group settings. In these experiences, I do my best to amplify the sometimes hushed inner voices of clients that reminds them, “I’m still here. I’m doing my best. I am worthy of healing and love. I am capable. I can create change
